Silverspring is located within the borders of Central Avenue, Attridge Drive, and Fedoruk Road just North of Forest Grove. The neighbourhood has a population of approximately 5,300, was developed primarily in the late 80’s and early 1990’s and is an ideal location due to its proximity to the University of Saskatchewan, the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo, and the Northeast Swale. The North Commuter bridge will be completed in October of 2018 at the intersection of McOrmond Road and Central Avenue and will provide easy access to the North end of Saskatoon.
There are two schools in Silverspring being Mother Theresa School and Silverspring School, as well as just over 20 acres of green space and parks (not including the Forestry Farm or Natural grassland areas). There is an abundance of walking trails, playgrounds, baseball and soccer facilities, a spray-park in the summer, and amenities like an outdoor rink, toboggan hill, and ski trails. The grassland also offer a unique eco-system to explore on foot and will eventually form a part of the Meewasin Trails.
Shopping is convenient at the nearby Preston Crossing, or University Heights Square.
